The Effect of Tranexamic Acid on Oncologic Outcomes: The TACT-SAFETY study – Retrospective study
Nature et objective :
We hypothesize that TXA during cancer surgery is safe and does not increase the risk of cancer recurrence. To address this hypothesis, we aim to extend the follow up of TACT patients beyond the peri-operative period to assess the mid- and long-term cancer outcomes.
Our objective is to determine if tranexamic acid affects the cancer outcomes of patients with bladder cancer who have received a radical cystectomy. Specifically, we aim to elucidate whether tranexamic acid given during cystectomy affects the risk of bladder cancer recurrence, bladder cancer-related death or death from any cause. These outcomes have been identified as highly important to bladder cancer patients and the protocol was developed in collaboration with Bladder Cancer Canada.
